The TRUTH about Portland (and Coffee)
OK - Either you know SOMETHING about Portland, Oregon (not Maine) or you don't. I realize that the East Coast has NO Idea where it is. Just the other day WHILE DRINKING COFFEE I had a guy say - "You Guys are out here next to Utah and all" .
So I Understand the challenge that anything Not New England can bring. Anyway, I was DRINKING COFFEE across the street from a Brew Pub just yesterday at about 10am - when it dawned on me that the Truth about Portland Really Is that Everybody is DRINKING COFFEE. Like All the Time. My 9 year old Nephew from Michigan spent One Week here and he was standing in line at the Portland Airport ordering MOCHA MOCHA and eating chocolate covered coffee beans for breakfast. True story - and only in Town for one week. Personal Favorite: Peet's Coffee. They are from Berkeley actually and the story goes that Peet's and Starbucks were all about being ONE back in the day. Whenever that was but it was over 25 years ago. The beans arrive Fresh daily. The Best Local "I Must be Portland cause I'm drinking coffee" name to drop to Impress someone of your Portland INTEL -lect is: STUMPTOWN. These beans are Roasted right here and people live for the fix. Funniest Name: At Powell's Books (Portland Icon) - at the location on Hawthorne (the Haight of Portland) the Coffee Shop Inside the store is called: The Fresh Pot. Check out the picture. Some of you PLEASE get back to me - I am so curious - DOES THIS COFFEE ADDICTION EXIST EVERYWHERE? My Friend has written a Cool Gift Book that is a GREAT read with - you guessed it COFFEE.
